Training

The EOSC CZ Training Centre provides comprehensive support and facilities for training, educational and related activities. This includes the provision of trainers and speakers and the implementation of training. The Training Centre will also organise cooperation with universities and other institutions while collecting requests for training and education; it will also provide a list of available training courses in the Czech Republic.

Data management plans and planning (DMP)

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Training CZ

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this lecture, we will follow up on the Introduction to FAIR Data lecture and specifically focus on the planning phase of working with data. We will explain in more detail why data work planning is essential. We will demonstrate the differences between a data management plan as a document and data management planning as a process that guides us through the entire research data lifecycle. We will demonstrate the essential elements of a suitable DMP and the application of selected tools through practical examples.

Introduction to FAIR data

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this talk, we will introduce the research data lifecycle in the broader context of Open Science and the contemporary requirements of research funders for working with data. We will also present the FAIR principles and the implementation tools, including persistent identifiers. Finally, we will demonstrate data storage and sharing possibilities in academic institutions and the Czech e-infrastructure.

FAIR Implementation Profile – an Effective Way towards FAIR Community Standards

In this workshop, we will present one of the most significant developments in the field of methods and tools for the optimal implementation of the FAIR Principles - FAIR Implementation Profile (FIP), which is a methodology developed within the GO FAIR initiative through which the scientific and research communities have the opportunity to express their choices of standards, technologies, tools and procedures by which they fulfil the FAIR principles. The methodology and related tools are planned to be used in the OS I and OS II projects.

A common thread that runs through almost all citizen science initiatives is their collection and generation of data. With the expanding scope of these initiatives, we are seeing an unprecedented increase in data. This data, when transformed into knowledge, is invaluable not only for deepening our understanding of scientific and social phenomena but also for its crucial role in informing evidence-based policy-making. The transition from raw data to knowledge, however, is dependent on several factors. Key among these is the application of good data practices and the establishment of comprehensive data infrastructures. Moreover, for the citizen science community, embracing the principles of open science, open data and adhering to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) standards and CARE principles are crucial steps, among other strategic approaches, to fully capitalise on citizen-generated data.

Practical licensing issues

This course is held in the Czech language.

During the talk, we will discuss the different types of licenses, including public licenses such as Creative Commons, open-source software licenses such as the GNU GPL and MIT, and database licensing. We will also discuss practical approaches to licensing, choosing the proper license, and situations in which licensing should be avoided, both from the perspective of the licensor and the licensee.
