The goal of the webinar is to familiarize participants with Domain Data Protocols (DDPs) and their significance in the research data lifecycle. These protocols, essential for successful research, cover both the handling of data to be used and data to be generated. When tailored to the needs of the research community or the requirements of funding providers, their value and integration into research significantly increase. Participants will learn how to effectively create domain-specific data protocols, adapt them to specific requirements, and utilize available tools and practical examples. The program includes an introduction to the topic, real-world examples, tool demonstrations, and interactive sessions.

Data management plans and planning (DMP)

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this lecture, we will follow up on the Introduction to FAIR Data lecture and specifically focus on the planning phase of working with data. We will explain in more detail why data work planning is essential. We will demonstrate the differences between a data management plan as a document and data management planning as a process that guides us through the entire research data lifecycle. We will demonstrate the essential elements of a suitable DMP and the application of selected tools through practical examples.

EMBL-EBI Training: Data managment – how to make the most of your data (Introduction)

The course provides an introduction to the key principles of research data management and their importance for modern scientific practice. Participants will learn why good data management is essential, the benefits of well-organized and properly documented data, and how adhering to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles enhances the value and usability of data. Additionally, they will be introduced to tools for creating data management plans, such as DMPonline and the Data Stewardship Wizard, and will acquire best practices in areas such as file naming, versioning, backup, and data sharing. The course emphasizes the importance of transparency, reproducibility, and sharing data with the wider community.

Open Science Policies: Open Research Data Management, FAIR, and tools

This educational program aims to introduce potential users of open science initiatives or service providers to open science policies, particularly the concept of FAIR data, open research data management (ORDM), and the use of the RePol tool for creating policy documents. Participants will learn to understand the principles of FAIR data (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and their practical applications, develop and implement open research data management plans (ORDM), and use the RePol tool for drafting policy documents. They will gain skills in effectively utilizing the LCT tool, which supports open science principles, and will be better prepared for data management and policy development in an open science environment.
