Data Guardians: Mission FAIR

The Data Guardians series: Mission FAIR introduces data stewards as indispensable science team members. In this six-part series, we'll reveal who data stewards are, what their job entails, and what tools and training opportunities they can use or learn about within the community. The mission's goal is to shed light on the role of data stewards, support their professional development, and inspire scientists to better manage research data.

EOSC Federation Kick-off Workshop

The EOSC build-up phase officially kicked off in March 2025 with a workshop in Brussels. 13 organisations have been selected to join the first wave of EOSC Federation Candidate Nodes, marking a significant step in the development of a collaborative, community-driven European research ecosystem. These organisations represent diverse sectors within the European Research Area and will work together to co-develop the EOSC Federation’s work plan, helping establish a sustainable and integrated research infrastructure across Europe.

Metadata - introduction

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Training CZ

The lecture will provide a general introduction to metadata. What metadata is and is used for, examples of metadata from different areas, categorization of metadata, various approaches to metadata, its design, creation and use. Various approaches will be demonstrated using selected document description standards, namely MARC, Dublin Core, XML, RDF and METS. A discussion will follow the approximately 90-minute talk.
