e-IRG Workshop BE Presidency

The e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) organises two open workshops every year, each under the auspices of the corresponding presidency of the EU Council. The Belgian EU Presidency e-IRG Workshop will be organised as a hybrid event and will bring together e-IRG stakeholders in Brussels, Belgium, as well as online and worldwide. The e-IRG events are official EU presidency events which will take place in the framework of the “Conference on Research Infrastructures” and the “ESFRI Forum meeting”, similar to the Lund events under the Swedish EU presidency.

Controlled vocabularies and ontologies as useful helpers - practical examples and recommendations

The third in a series of lectures on topics in the field of knowledge organization. While the first provided a general introduction and the second dealt with the theoretical and methodological aspects of controlled vocabularies and ontologies, the current entry is devoted to examples of concrete solutions.

Open Data in Public Administration

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this lecture, we will learn about the basic principles of open data, their legislative anchorage and their relation to European data policies. Using concrete examples of data handling, we will show how the quality of data provided varies across institutions.

Open Repositories Conference 2024

ORC2024 is an excellent place for companies and organisations that deal with digital asset management, digital storage, research information systems, scholarly publications, open access and open data to be seen and interact with participants. The event gives access to a large audience of potential customers and partners as well as insights into what is hot in the area from a user perspective.

The event is expecting approximately 450-500 attendees from all over the world. These will include directors of digital initiatives, technical staff and developers, librarians, and repository managers as well as applied researchers in digital libraries and similar fields.

EOSC Association 8th General Assembly

The EOSC Association’s 8th General Assembly will be a lunch-to-lunch, in-person meeting to be held 27-28 May 2024. The meeting will be held in Leuven, Belgium.

Why use Open Science?

Most scientists still ask why they should open their data and what the point of the Open Science policy is. This presentation shows concrete cases where Open Science principles have proven their worth in practice and contributed to the development of scientific research. These principles can be used by future Data Stewards to establish relationships with future researchers in their institutions.

The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) is a group of organisations who work on harmonising the assessment of research. It takes into account practices and activities that maximise the quality and impact of research. It involves basing assessment primarily on qualitative judgment, for which peer review is central, supported by responsible use of quantitative indicators.

This two-hour workshop will focus on the topic of research assessment to help the selected candidates to draft their FAIR implementation action plan by taking into account the research assessment aspect.

RDA’s 22nd Plenary Meeting

The Research Data Alliance’s 22nd Plenary meeting (VP22) is now confirmed and will take place as a fully virtual event. Organised by the RDA Secretariat, VP22 will be held for half-days spread across two weeks, between 14-23 May 2024.

With the theme “Local Action – Global Connection”, which also aligns with the four themes of RDA’s Strategic Plan, the plenary will focus on collaboration and engagement with our global community through the sharing of local experiences, best practices and recommendations.
