The first part of a mini-cycle of two lectures on Open Science. Follow-up online training is advertised separately on 25 October 2024. We recommend taking both dates, but it is not a requirement. If you are interested in the complete training, you must register for both dates.

The webinar is primarily intended for secretaries of universities, science managers at universities, but also other interested parties.

The webinar will take place in MS TEAMS. At the request of the lecturers, the recording will be offered exceptionally. The slides together with the recording will be made available to the participants after the lecture.

The webinar will be clear and practical for the target group.

CLARIN Conference

The CLARIN Annual Conference is the main annual event for those working on the construction and operation of CLARIN across Europe, as well as for representatives of the communities of use in the humanities and social sciences.

The CLARIN Conference 2024 will be a hybrid event. Virtual attendance is open to the wider public. The conference will take place in Barcelona, Spain. The event is organised and hosted by CLARIN ERIC, in collaboration with CLARIAH-ES.

CLARIN2024 is organised for the wider humanities and social sciences communities in order to exchange ideas and experiences within the CLARIN infrastructure. This includes the design, construction and operation of the CLARIN infrastructure, the data, tools and services that it contains or for which there is a need, its actual use by researchers and teachers, its relation to other infrastructures and projects, and the CLARIN Knowledge Infrastructure.

We are pleased to welcome authors of accepted papers, members of national consortia and representatives of CLARIN centres, representatives from partner organisations, and many others who are interested in becoming part of the CLARIN community.

Working with the Zenodo repository

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this lecture, we will discuss one of the most famous repositories, Zenodo.  After the lecture, all participants should be able to perform at least the basic tasks in virtually any general repository, which will help them apply the principles of Open Science.

EOSC EU Node Technical Launch Event

Join the online technical launch event of the EOSC EU Node, supporting the EU's Open Science policy and the development of the European Open Science Cloud. The event will feature a technical demonstration of the EOSC EU Node, showcasing its role in advancing research data management and federating scientific research infrastructures. A panel discussion will explore the significance of this milestone for the future development of EOSC, the buildup of the EOSC Federation, and the broader adoption of Open Science principles. The event will be live-streamed for the public audience.

CRAFT-OA Tech Event

From 10-11 October 2024, CRAFT-OA organises the CRAFT-OA Tech Event in Turin, Italy.

The gathering aims to bring together various stakeholders, including members of the Diamond Open Access (OA) community, institutional publishing service and technology providers, journal editors, and technical professionals working with publishing systems like OJS, Lodel, and Janeway.

This event is a unique opportunity to share knowledge on the technological advancements within the CRAFT-OA project, collaborate and shape the future of equitable, scholar-led, digital publishing.

To ensure an engaging and interactive event, the number of participants is limited to 99.

Electronic Laboratory (Field) Notebooks - (ELN)

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this lecture, we will discuss what electronic laboratory (or also field) journals - ELN for short - are, what are the advantages of using them for scientific data management, and what is the plan for supporting these tools within the National Data Infrastructure (NDI) in the Czech Republic.

FOAM 2024: FAIR principles for Ontologies and Metadata in Knowledge Management

FOAM is a new workshop merging the Workshop on Ontologies for FAIR and FAIR Ontologies (Onto4FAIR), the Conceptual Modeling, Ontologies and Metadata Management for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) Data (CMOMM4FAIR) and the FAIR Ontology Harmonization and TRUST Data Interoperability Workshop (FOHTI).

The main objectives of this workshop are:

1. to bring together new methods for enabling FAIR research outputs (data, software, workflows, ontologies, mappings, etc.) through ontologies and vocabularies,
2. discuss techniques, metrics and guidelines to improve the FAIRness of ontologies and vocabularies.
3. to share experiences, identify new challenges and opportunities applying FAIR for different communities.
