Open Science Workshop 2024

The fourth edition of the University Open Science Workshop 2024 will take place at the Faculty of Social Studies of MU. The lecture part of the workshop will focus mainly on scientific data management, followed by a panel discussion and workshops on Open Science as a project requirement and the use of the Data Stewardship Wizard tool for creating DMPs. The entire program, including registration, can be found on the Open Science MUNI website. The event will also be accessible online via MS Teams.

The EuroScience Open Forum is a biennial meeting designed to offer the scientific community a platform for interdisciplinary and intersectional debate about scientific culture, scientific research, and innovation. It is created for the society’s benefit and carried out with the society’s participation.

The main goal of the ESOF2024 conference is to explore the connections between science and society, the conditions for conducting research, and their impact on society. We aim to stimulate debate on social changes related to science and analyze the social, cultural, and economic consequences of scientific breakthroughs at regional, national, European, and global levels. In the face of global challenges and to enhance international scientific cooperation, scientists want to discuss science as a factor of change in our lives and how the very life changes science.

PIDfest

A three-day international summit of talks, activities and workshops focussing on how persistent identifiers can deliver world-class research infrastructure. This event is organised by the National Library of Technology (NTK) and the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC)

The overarching objective of PIDfest is to unite global pioneers in the field of persistent identifiers, fostering collaborative solutions to tangible infrastructure challenges that stand in the way of expediting research and innovation. An event of this magnitude promises dynamic discussions, centred on practical strategies for overcoming real-world hurdles in the delivery of research infrastructure.

e-IRG Workshop BE Presidency

The e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) organises two open workshops every year, each under the auspices of the corresponding presidency of the EU Council. The Belgian EU Presidency e-IRG Workshop will be organised as a hybrid event and will bring together e-IRG stakeholders in Brussels, Belgium, as well as online and worldwide. The e-IRG events are official EU presidency events which will take place in the framework of the “Conference on Research Infrastructures” and the “ESFRI Forum meeting”, similar to the Lund events under the Swedish EU presidency.

Controlled vocabularies and ontologies as useful helpers - practical examples and recommendations

The third in a series of lectures on topics in the field of knowledge organization. While the first provided a general introduction and the second dealt with the theoretical and methodological aspects of controlled vocabularies and ontologies, the current entry is devoted to examples of concrete solutions.

Open Data in Public Administration

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this lecture, we will learn about the basic principles of open data, their legislative anchorage and their relation to European data policies. Using concrete examples of data handling, we will show how the quality of data provided varies across institutions.

Open Repositories Conference 2024

ORC2024 is an excellent place for companies and organisations that deal with digital asset management, digital storage, research information systems, scholarly publications, open access and open data to be seen and interact with participants. The event gives access to a large audience of potential customers and partners as well as insights into what is hot in the area from a user perspective.

The event is expecting approximately 450-500 attendees from all over the world. These will include directors of digital initiatives, technical staff and developers, librarians, and repository managers as well as applied researchers in digital libraries and similar fields.
