On June 14, the first meeting between representatives of the EOSC CZ initiative and researchers from the Open Science Center at Palacký University took place. The event aimed to introduce the EOSC CZ initiative, raise awareness about support opportunities, and ascertain whether researchers have all the necessary information regarding the implementation of EOSC CZ within the Czech scientific community.
Additionally, these meetings strive to engage researchers in the activities of working groups, understand and compare Open Science support practices at various institutions, and apply these insights within the initiative.
The discussions among participants in Olomouc focused on collaboration opportunities and identifying areas where the initiative could provide support. Particular emphasis was placed on educational opportunities in the field of open science and research data management, offered by the EOSC CZ Training Center. This center provides Open Science centers at universities and research institutions the chance to organize tailored educational events.
"For EOSC CZ, it is crucial to get to know representatives of the Czech research ecosystem, including their habits and needs in the area of research data management. Direct contact with scientists and university representatives is invaluable in this regard, and we are very grateful to Palacký University for the opportunity to meet and exchange experiences and visions," said the secretary of the initiative, Jaroslav Juráček.
On Friday, 11 October, the third EOSC CZ networking event took place at the Technical University of Liberec to promote collaboration with scientists and the university in the field of open science. The discussion focused on sharing best practices, data management, and the EOSC CZ initiative's service offering.
On 13 September 2024, a presentation of the EOSC CZ Initiative and networking with representatives of the EOSC CZ Secretariat and Training Centre took place at the University of South Bohemia. The meeting focused on implementing EOSC and the future of open data in the Czech Republic. Discussions were also held on the P JAC projects and the importance of the institutional data steward.
