Greetings from EOSC CZ!
The Hotel Soláň in the Beskydy Mountains hosted the High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering (HPCSE) conference, which took place from 20 to 23 May this year. The event was organised by IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center and welcomed 85 experts from fields such as high-performance computing, applied mathematics, numerical analysis, high-performance data analytics, machine/deep learning, quantum computing, and advanced visualisation.
The HPCSE 2024 conference attracted top experts from leading European research institutions. Among the notable guests who accepted the invitation were prominent figures such as Patrick Farrell from the University of Oxford, Joachim Schöberl from the Technical University of Vienna, and Bradley Treeby from University College London. Czech experts, including Josef Šivic and Jakub Mareček from the Czech Technical University in Prague, also participated.
The HPCSE 2024 conference inspired students and researchers to engage with the growing community focused on high-performance and quantum computing. Among the attendees were also Kateřina Slaninová and Kateřina Martinovičová, who are involved in the EOSC-CZ project. During the poster session, they presented the EOSC CZ initiative and outlined what open science and FAIR principles entail. They informed interested parties about the pillars crucial for implementing open science in the Czech Republic, the key roles of working groups, and the history of the initiative.
The conference primarily helped to exchange experience and ideas and initiated new research collaborations. More information about the conference can be found on the event's website. The conference atmosphere, including its poster session, can be observed through the photographs available in the photo gallery section. The next HPCSE conference will take place in the beautiful Beskydy Mountains from 18 to 21 May 2026.
