This course is held in the Czech language.
The seminar Legal Aspects of Research Data Management will provide fundamental insight into managing personal data and the related intellectual property legal regimes. The seminar will introduce a short contextual lecture that will place the legal aspects of research data management in the different contexts which participants may encounter within the academic environment (project, commercialisation, etc.). Following this, two expert lectures will be given ("data and personal data" and "data and intellectual property"). Finally, there will be a summary and final discussion followed by putting theory into practical questions and answers.

JUDr. Lucie Smolka, PhD.
JUDr. Lucie Smolka, PhD, is a lawyer and has a private law practice under the name Lawado | Law of Ideas. She specialises in intellectual property law, new technologies and software law and regularly lectures and publishes in these areas. She leads the Open Content Association, which is engaged in research on legal and modern technology issues and acts as the Legal lead of the Czech branch of Creative Commons. She is a member of the Open Cities Committee, where she focuses on the legal aspects of open source, and leads the legal group of the EU OSPO Network.
Jakub Míšek, PhD.
Jakub Míšek, PhD., is an assistant professor at the Institute of Law and Technology at Masaryk University Faculty of Law. He focuses mainly on data governance and information rights, i.e., privacy issues, personal data protection, free access to information and data rights in general. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Working Group on Open Data of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic (since 2023, the Digital and Information Agency), where he is involved in the preparation of legislative materials and is responsible for methodological legal support in the publication of open data. Since 2019, he has been a member of the Appeals Committee of the Office for Personal Data Protection.
Mgr. Ing. Jiří Marek
Mgr. Ing. Jiří Marek is the head of the EOSC-CZ Secretariat (administrative and logistical unit to help implement the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) in the Czech Republic). In addition, he is the Open Science Manager at Masaryk University. He is one of the initiators of the Brno Open Source Declaration (https://www.otevrenamesta.cz/declaration) to create a Czech National Open Source Programme Office (OSPO) for the public sector and academia. Jiří is a chemist (specialising in hydrogen technology) and lawyer (specialising in Open Access, Open Agenda and copyright) interested in modern urban development.
