Representatives from EOSC CZ, Kateřina Slaninová and Martin Dvořák, shared their impressions of the event: "The symposium clearly demonstrated that data sharing and its effective use are strategic priorities for Europe. It was inspiring to see various sectors connecting and jointly seeking ways to extract the greatest value from data," summarized Kateřina Slaninová.

Potential, Challenges, and the Role of EOSC CZ

The Czech Republic currently lags behind other European countries in the development of data spaces, both in terms of national coordination and company involvement. "We observed that abroad, clear strategies and implementation plans for data spaces exist. In the Czech Republic, it is still fragmented and uncoordinated. EOSC CZ can thus play a crucial role in becoming the first fully-fledged data space that attracts partners from other sectors," stated Martin Dvořák.

The Data Spaces Symposium 2025 clearly showed that the future of the digital economy and research will rely on open, connected, and interoperable data environments. It is important for the Czech Republic to become more actively involved in this ecosystem.

Insights and Conclusions from the Symposium

  • Interoperability of Data Spaces
Emphasis on the necessity of semantic interoperability and the use of DCAT-AP as a standard for data sharing across various domains.
  • European Health Data Space
Among the most advanced data spaces in the EU are projects like the Genomic Data Infrastructure and EUCAIM.
  • Blueprint (2.0)
The Data Spaces Support Centre presented an updated version of the Blueprint (2.0) to create data spaces and a new data exchange protocol from IDSA.
  • Open-Source Solutions
Stakeholders agreed on the use of open-source software for data spaces.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Data Spaces
Emphasis on the need to connect supercomputing AI platforms with data spaces.
  • EU's Role in the Digital World
The Draghi report was mentioned again, highlighting the EU's weak position in the global digital economy and ways to mitigate this handicap using AI.
